Swim Across America - Los Angeles is a charity swim on Saturday, May 7th at the UCLA Spieker Aquatics Center. All ages and skill levels that are passionate about fighting cancer are invited to participate to benefit UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Welcome to Swim Across America - Los Angeles! We are happy to announce that Spieker Aquatic Center is hosting this charitable and fun event. All are welcome to join us as we Make Waves to Fight Cancer at UCLA. Proceeds from this fun and impactful charity swim will benefit cancer research at UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center.


How it works: Swimmers kickstart their fundraising by registering and making a $50 self-donation. You'll receive a link to a fundraising page for you to personalize and share with others. The self-donation registration fee is tax-deductible and counts toward your overall fundraising goal.

Swimmers will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun relays, workouts from Olympians, lap swimming, and other water activities.

Invite your friends and family to come and meet Olympians, UCLA Research Scientists, and the UCLA Swim & Dive team. Explore and learn at the UCLA Foundation and UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center tents!

Special treat: Stick around after you swim to watch a spectacular UCLA Diving Exhibition!


Fundraising Requirements and Incentives

All participants pledge to raise a suggested minimum of $250. Additional incentives included as you raise more funds:

- Raise $50 and receive a Swim Across America t-shirt, swim cap, and tattoos.

- Raise $250 and receive a SAA Towel plus the above prizes.

- If you raise $1,000 you are acknowledged as a WaveMaker and receive WaveMaker benefits.

Individual WaveMaker Status: $1,000 minimum:

WaveMakers go above and beyond by raising at least $1,000 regardless of your age or participation type (swimmers, volunteers or SAA My Way Virtual participants). WaveMakers get special recognition and an exclusive WaveMaker gift. You can learn more about WaveMaker Status here.

Registration Self-Donation:

Participants are asked to kickstart your fundraising. The registration self-donation is a 100% tax deductible donation that will be will be credited towards each swimmer's fundraising minimum.


All swimmers and volunteers must complete the waiver found here.

What To Expect on Event Day

Swim Across America is committed to providing a safe experience with these policies on event day. Modifications subject to change.


Event Schedule is subject to change and updates will be emailed to participants.

9:00-10:00am: Check in / Remarks, everyone swimming or volunteering MUST sign a waiver by 10:00am check in.

10:00-11:15am: Workout led by Olympians/team coaches; lap swimming open.

11:15am-12:00pm: Fun relays and the UCLA Diving Exhibition!

12:00pm-1:00pm: USA National Synchronized Swimming Team Show!

10:00am-2:00pm: Visit the SAA UCLA Village, meet the UCLA doctors, Olympians, food, vendors, music and more!


What is SAA MY WAY?

SAA My Way is our virtual offering. You decide your activity and timeline. Register with a $50 self-donation and we’ll send you an SAA Swag Bag to show off your spirit. All donations raised for your My Way will support our SAA - Los Angeles charity swim.

We need you! Volunteers are the backbone of the Swim Across America Family ensuring our event runs smoothly from beginning to end. You don't need to be a swimmer to participate. UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center is one of only 51 comprehensive cancer centers in the nation, the highest designation possible from the National Cancer Institute (NCI). The Jonsson Cancer Center has over 500 scientists and physicians who conduct basic, translational, clinical and population-based cancer research and provide state-of-the-art cancer care, and more than 400 active clinical trials focused on cancer care are currently enrolling patients at UCLA and beyond. Since 2014, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration has approved 18 therapies that were developed through research conducted in UCLA labs. Funds you help raise will have local impact and go directly to support the next generation of cancer researchers at UCLA.
