Olympian Par Arvidsson

Par Arvidsson, winner of the 1980 Olympic gold medal for Sweden in the 100-meter butterfly. An extraordinary athlete and an accomplished graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and the Harvard Business School, 2012 was Par’s first year participating in Swim Across America.

Mr. Arvidsson held the world record in the 100-meter butterfly in 1980 with a time of 54:15 seconds. At Cal, he was a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship 400 Medley Relay Team (3:15:22), as well as an NCAA record holder and individual champion. As an economics major, he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and received the Top 10 NCAA Scholar-Athlete Award.

Out of the pool, Mr. Arvidsson has had a successful career in venture capital. He is currently founder and Managing Director of Snowshoe Capital, which is a principal investor in and advisor to emerging growth companies. Previously, he was a co-founder and Managing Director of GameChange, an early-stage venture capital fund created in partnership with Accenture and SOFTBANK Venture Capital. He has been an investor in the areas of enterprise software and services, Internet infrastructure solutions, web services, and security services.
