Richard "Rick" Colella Jr. is a Seattle native who participated in the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games.  Loyal to his home state, Colella attending the University of Washington. After claiming three gold medals at the 1975 Pan America Games, Colella won the bronze medal in the Men's 200m Breaststroke at the 1976 Summer Olympics. Rick, whose sister Lynn is also an Olympic medalist, was co-winner of the Seattle P-I's Man of the Year award in 1971 which he shared with his sibling.

Rick and his wife Terry have have raised four children, and as a whole their family has dedicated themselves to various philanthropic ventures.
