Roque Santos
Roque
Santos joins many fellow 1992 Swimming Team members on SAA's roster of
Olympians. After winning the 200m breaststroke at the US Trials, he
placed 12th in Barcelona. While at UC Berkeley, Roque was a seven-time
NCAA All-American and two-year Cal Bear team captain. Between 1989 and
1995, he achieved world rankings, setting American and Olympic Trials
records. Roque's career in the water was actually just beginning, as he
is now one of the most highly ranked of all US Masters Swimmers on the
planet, having broken six World Records and amassing 24 national titles.
After serving as a member of the Olympic International Operation
Committee, Planning Committee and Athlete Executive Committee, Roque was
formerly employed by Nike Swim and Finis, Inc., and now enjoys
conducting popular motivational clinics with an emphasis on his
signature breaststroke. Roque and his wife Debbie Schultz-Santos swim
for the Walnut Creek Masters, and we welcome him to our San Francisco
event!
